At Desnudo, the ethos is clear: empower small coffee producers, one farm at a time. Desnudo is committed to supporting small coffee producers by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive in an industry marked by challenges and inequalities.
For too long, small producers have grappled with limited access to education, resources, and fair markets. Desnudo aims to bridge this gap by empowering partner farmers to transition from the uncertainties of the commodity market to the stability of the specialty market. Through direct trade and long-term relationships, transparency and accountability are championed, ensuring that every cup of Desnudo coffee is not just delicious but also ethically sourced.
At the heart of the Desnudo philosophy lies a commitment to seasonality and experimentation. Embracing the ever-changing nature of coffee, Desnudo offers a diverse array of microlots that showcase the unique flavors of each harvest. From fermentation techniques to drying processes and varietal experimentation, every Desnudo coffee is a testament to the artistry and innovation of the producers.
Nestled in the heart of Austin, Texas, the Desnudo micro roastery meticulously roasts each batch of coffee in small quantities. This hands-on approach ensures that every cup is bursting with freshness and flavor, straight from the farm to the mug.
But the mission extends beyond great coffee – it’s about creating meaningful change in the lives of farmers and their communities. By cutting out intermediaries and working directly with family-run farms, Desnudo empowers producers to adopt sustainable practices, embrace regenerative agriculture, and secure a brighter future for generations to come.
So, the next time a morning cup of coffee is savored, remember the farmers who make it all possible. At Desnudo, the dedication is clear: honoring their hard work and dedication, one sip at a time.”
Located in East Austin, I stumbled upon Desnudo one day on my way to the Lost Well. The first thing that caught my attention was the line of people wrapped around the side of the truck. Obviously, the neighborhood knew something I didn’t. I ended up ordering some espresso, becoming instantly charmed by Juan, the roaster, and the rest is history. This micro-roaster focuses on optimizing the fair-trade coffee chain by going directly from the farmers to retail, and the result is some of the best coffee that Austin has to offer.
