Discover Medici with Local Roast Club

“Local Roast Club proudly introduces Medici, founded by the dynamic duo Michael and Alison. Their journey began 25 years ago when they first crossed paths at Metro Espresso Bar on the Drag, culminating in the launch of their inaugural cafe in West Lynn in 2006.

Medici believes that coffee is more than a beverage; it’s a bridge that connects people and fosters self-reflection. With a commitment to the artistry of coffee, Michael and Alison are dedicated to roasting, serving, and delivering exceptional coffee experiences. Each cup is meticulously crafted with a passion that invites you to savor every sip, whether it’s a morning pick-me-up or a leisurely cappuccino.

For Medici, coffee isn’t just fuel; it’s the catalyst for creation, introspection, and conversation. Inspired by the Medici family of Florentine history, Michael and Alison honor their legacy as patrons of arts, humanities, and discourse. Like the Medicis, Medici seeks to push the boundaries of understanding and appreciation, striving to know themselves, support their community, and navigate life’s paradoxes with grace and intentionality.

In the spirit of “Festina Lente” – Make Haste Slowly, a saying synonymous with the Medici family, Medici encourages a mindful approach to life, where each moment is savored and each opportunity embraced. Join Medici on a journey of coffee exploration and enlightenment, where every cup tells a story of passion, connection, and the pursuit of excellence.”

Medici has always been an iconic Austin coffee shop since my childhood days here. I’ve always admired their branding and atmosphere, and it’s been thrilling to witness their expansion to the six locations they now have around town. One of my closest friends prefers spending his days at the West Lynn cafe, claiming it’s the coziest spot, but I believe the South Lamar location might give it a run for its money. We often rendezvous at either location to collaborate or simply enjoy their excellent coffee. Lately, I’ve found myself frequenting the Springdale location more often As that’s where they roast the beans.  Whichever location you prefer, rest assured the best experience can be delivered straight to your door, allowing you to enjoy the distinct Medici vibe through its flavors and aromas in the comfort of your own home.
